ATTENTION!!! MiniMgV v2 beta-tester
« on: March 14, 2009, 08:03:34 pm »
Be aware that...

I just installed (to help Arturia) the MiniMgV v2 beta BUT:

1) this installation removed my fully working previous MiniMg (other companies are so smart that their installer puts the beta in a new folder that has the name "beta" included to ensure that previous versions are not overwritten and one could compare these different versions)

2) This beta also requires some Syncrosoft dongle which you are then forced to buy, and if one does not have this dongle, all softwares are crashing because they can not validate the authorization

The best joke is that Arturia does not mention anywhere in the beta-process all the previous mentioned requirements!!!

People be careful in helping Arturia!

Mine still works,
I installed v2.0beta into it's own folder.
I did have to replace the v1.6 shortcut.

Now if I can get an authorization I'll be good to go!

Right,
except that you don't need any dongle, since the installer will install a software eLicenser; you are allowed to use a USB dongle if you wish, but you don't necessarily need one.

Anyway I agree that Arturia should have been more careful with the whole beta testing thing, particularly with regard to keeping safe the older version.

BTW, the new MiniMg is just *terrific*: the new features bring the synth to a utterly different rank of liveliness and expressivity: kudos to Arturia on this one.

I agree with the following from the first post by Otto Romanowski:
"I just installed (to help Arturia) the MiniMgV v2 beta BUT:

1) this installation removed my fully working previous MiniMg ....

2) .... all softwares are crashing because they can not validate the authorization..."

Not good. Not good at all.

Luckily, I noticed the installer wanted to install the beta over the original install, so I changed folders.

However, I'm getting a "... no valid license for this application" message. Below the download link I saw the "Request Activation Code ( Beta Test validity )" link. I clicked on that and submitted it.

Am I now waiting on an email from Arturia? I've been waiting all day.  ???

Yes, if you pressed the "request activation code" button, you will receive it by mail.
Mine arrived in the afternoon; I requested it late in the morning: not swift but not that bad, anyway.

Thanks, Tical.

I'm really not impatient, it's just that there's no clear explanation as to what to expect, or even (per previous posts) that one should be careful not to overwrite your previous install.

Hmm, just noticed that this thread is in the wrong forum.

Hi Jeff,
I'm entirely with you on this one: I bombed Arturia support team myself with 2 code requests and three (long) mails focused exactly on what we're discussing here.
Also, the Mac installer won't allow you at all to choose a different folder than the original one, and reverting back to V1.6 has been less than obvious 'cause of the infamous "there's nothing to install" issue... almost a nightmare; now I'm happy though.

OK. Now it works! (but still without the previous version!)

I had on my other machine the Synchrosoft USB-dongle and that was the reason I was surprized (on thi laptop I do not use eny dongles because I use this for teaching and have to leave it in a classroom end there is a risk...you know).

But still Arturia-betainstaller should install by default to a completely new folder...

I'm still waiting. I've requested it yesterday and, by accident (because I didn't know what the problem was) just another time. Still no mail. Other softwaremanufacturers often send the license direct after request, even if its weekend...
How can I betatest it now??

Okay, I got mine registered and working. Great !
One  abnormality I see is : there's something going wrong with choosing presets.
After playing around a bit I can't choose presets anymore. I can save my own sounds but the preset selector doesn't respond anymore and I get a slower reaction playing a midi keyboard.
Laptop running Vista and tascam 1641, (working great botherwise)

greetings,
Anthony
