Prophet 5?..
« on: November 03, 2008, 10:01:00 pm »
Hi,

I was just browsing thru the manual, but I couldn't find any mention of Prophet 5 oscillators or filters. (Although the Prophet 5 is mentioned in the chapter about Additive Synthesis.)

On the web page for the Origin, it clearly states that emulations of the Prophet 5 are part of Origins architechture.

Why isn't this mentioned in the manual? Or is it not finished yet, and will come in a future update?..

Thanks.

The Prophet VS appears in the form of a wave table emulation.
It comes with firmware 1.0.
It is present in the manual:
http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/origin/resources.html
Look at page 113.

However, I wonder whether there will be a template for the Prophet.

Hello Patrice,

Yes I know the the Prophet VS is there, but I was asking about the Prophet 5.

Do you have any info on that?

Thanks.

No sorry. But I think you may have misinterpreted the manual.
The only occurrence of "Prophet 5" in the manual is on page 149.
"The original Prophet 5 could also use the second oscillator for..."
So it is just here to make a comparison.
The other occurences in the manual all refer to "Prophet VS".

Yes, they only mention the VS in the manual.

But they are speaking of the Prophet 5 in the "specs" part on the Arturia website:

Create your own synthesis patch by connecting independent modules. These modules are either innovative modules we introduced (such as Galaxy) or taken from the best synthesizers ever made (such as the Mg Modular, the Yamaha CS-80, the Roland Jupiter-8, the MiniMg, the ARP 2600, the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 and Prophet VS).
Alternatively, use an existing synthesizer recreation: the MiniMg, the ARP 2600*, the Jupiter-8* or the Prophet 5*

Arturia, could you please shed some light on this?..

Thanks.

Yes, the light is whithin the '*' following the synthesizers names. That '*' sends you to a footnote which tells "to be delivered later"  :)

That said, remember that we may change our plans for a lot of reasons. For now, you can be sure that the ARP2600 and 1 or 2 more templates will be delivered. What will be these 2 templates? I don't even know it myself except that they'll be taken from the list: Jupiter-8, Prophet 5, CS80.

These days we are working on a "maintenance" firmware release (1.0.2 or so). When done, we'll take the time to fix the plan for the next 6 months. So please don't hesitate to tell us the features you would like be added to Origin.

Hello Phil,

Thanks for your reply, but I think you misunderstood me. I know that there isn't a template for the Prophet 5, but I was asking about the individual modules that come with the Origin.

There's no mention of Prophet 5 modules in the manual, but the text on the web clearly states that they're included.

So my question is, again: does the Origin have the Prophet 5 oscillator and filter modules?..

Thanks.

Finally an answer!!  ;)

Ok, now I know this.

Perhaps you should remove the part in the specs text that says it's there?..

Thanks.

But now I'm a bit confused..

I was just listening to the demos of the Origin, and the one called "Progr_Pro5 Bell" states it was made thanks to a Prophet 5 structure...

Was it something made on a pre-production unit?
