Concept2 Movable electromagnetic potentiometers on screen
« on: November 27, 2007, 12:07:58 pm »
Hi ! ...again

Here the main idée of movable potentiometers (The MoPot's Show )
One pic in English, one pic in French.

This concept would use the same electromagnetic resonance than WACOM gears.

It could be used with the first concept :

...
and could be also used with other concepts or bigger screens

Stephane

maybe just the wrong moment for your concept?

now it is more about updating the already existing software and
to finish the almost [?] done hardware.

nightmare if they would start now a new project before the
old work is done.

Hi Slammah,

I prefer music and synthesis

It seems Wacom recently realize a such kind of marker for tablet which recognizes rotation movements...so the Mopot's idea (electromagnetic real potentiometer to "touch" virtuals ones) is not so ridiculous.

...anyway, even without that, it's not a ridiculous concept

The new screens from the I phone are also multi touch....
would a slider multi touch not work better if not just as well???
the CS80 has a total of 5 rotarys on it...Volume , pitch , fine tune, tremolo and chorus speeds, everything else is quick to grab via sliders and rockers....
Arps like the 2600 and odyssey went for sliders too....
It occured to me that you can operate a slider with 1 finger or a thumb, but a knob takes a finger and a thumb.....I only have 1 thumb on each hand, so to tweak 2 knobs simotaneously, I would have to stop playing for my keys for rotary's....
wheras a multi touch screen with sliders that can't get lost makes more sence to me.....since you could move multiple sliders while playing...

Yes it's thrue, you are quite right... :-D
Personnally I never use several figners at same time to edit a sound...and I think knobs take less space than slider ...what interest me in this case :)
In add a lot of gear uses knobs instead sliders without any problems. Some exemples I know : my Creamware Minimax, pro12, Triton Studio (a fiew ones) ...hummm... my S90ES has sliders ! but even if I'm fonf of this keyboard, I would preffer knobs instead sliders on its panel...

If you compare Prodyssey ASB to the Minimax or Pro12 you see it is bigger because the sliders...I'm not against these controllers but it's less my cup of tea :)

It is differents point of views...differents philosophie (such Mg and ARP  )
Thanks to your interesting views. :-D

But both can be used on the same interface

The main idea with this concept is to obtain the most parameters in the less (reasonable) space with the best phisical interactivity possible.

And that, as if you can change the minimax interface to the pro12 interface or anything else interface with only one and same interface by moving knobs:D

(sorry for my so personnal grammar  ...help !!)
