SONG mode help please
« on: May 28, 2013, 01:08:11 am »
Just getting to grips with my spark le and loving every minute! I have machine too, but there is something far more intuitive about using spark, and I like it a lot.

One area that eludes me, and the manual doesn't really touch on it, nor do any tutorials from arteria ive scene -SONG MODE.
When I press play on spark, it loops around my pattern - rather than following the song.  I go into song mode, and alter patterns etc, but I never see any movement in the song mode(il.e. illumination of patterns, thus we can visibly see where the song is up too), in fact song mode doesn't seem to work at all and doesn't follow the patterns I add

What could I be doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated it

Steve

When you are in song mode, the sequencer steps are representing the pattern in the song:
- 1st step -> 1st pattern
- 2nd step -> 2nd pattern
- ....................
- 16th step -> 16th pattern

If the song is not starting at all this might be a bug.
Can you give me more details (OS, DAW...)?

It seems song mode doesn't play... I watched a SPARK Video tutorial, and I noticed that spark has a SONG LATCH button by the pattern buttons - LE, doesn't have this.  Therefore how do I tell spark le I want to play the song?

When I click SONG, and go into the song editor - and see all the tabs with patterns on, I notice that when I press play, there is no flashing light effect going over them(i.e. to confirm the song is indeed playing).  When I press play, it just plays the current sequence Im working on.
I do think arturia should create some enhanced information on song mode in the manuals - as its very very limited, and doesn't actually explain how to use the song mode.

This situation is the same if im using standalone, vst, etc. Im using a mac.

Wow... whats that expression (cant see the wood for the trees.....)
No I didn't see that.

I do now!
I guess by pressing this, that when then trigger the song to play, when the playhead is pressed. Brilliant!

Thanks for your help

The simple answer I was looking for. Thanks.

Is there a way to select this with the hardware?

Not from SparkLE, sorry.
However, we will add a shortcut in Spark 2 software for SparkLE users.
