Record loop divide performace into Live as Midi ?
« on: May 10, 2013, 10:16:43 am »
I wondered if it is possible to record a loop divide performance into midi for Live. I know I can record into a audio track in Live when doing it. But I want to keep it as midi for arranging my song and use it as break sequence. Is that possible ?

PS. Sorry if this question has bean answered before.

no that doesn't in live 9. What I do instead is save the loop divide pattern as audio. Then in session view i will have a whole track of random changeups and slowly blend them inbetween bars.

I see, so no chance to record it as Midi. Maybe Arturia could do this future updates, its all in there!

Thanks, will record it as audio for time being.

Hi,

I think that i've got a solution for you.

On Spark Ableton device (not on Arturia VST User Interface), click on configure button.
Next open Arturia VST User Interface
Then click on Loop Mode Switch (on Spark Midi controller or Spark VST UI) and Loop Mode parameter appears on Spark Device.
Go on with turning Divide encoder and Move encoder to make them appear on Spark Device too.
No need to activate Spark Public or Private Input in Ableton settings.
Now when you use encoders for loop divide in Record mode with automarion arm switch enabled in Live 9, Ableton record all your encoders move.

Just tell me if it works for you.

 ;)

Is there also such a simple way or any kind of way for Logic Pro X Users? would be great, i really want to record those two knobs in logic Pro X.

Thanks

Denis you are correct this totally does work in Live...just wanted to clarify! 8)

That said it's not without it's problems sync wise.  I've also had issues with the automation recorded is not played back correctly.  AND editing those nodes is rather a pain in the keister.
