Hanging notes with Logic Pro 9.1.8
« on: December 22, 2012, 05:02:42 pm »
I'm getting this quite a lot with pretty much all the patches on Logic Pro 9.  It happens when stopping playback.  The SEM-V carries on playing its last note and never stops until you remove it from the song.  It doesn't even stop when you change patch.

It's a good plugin, but I can't use it at all because of this problem.  Anyone else having this?

Hi,

I use various MIDI controllers.  Most are connected via MIDI to an emagic Unitor 8, which is connected via USB to the Mac Mini.  I have tried using an M-Audio Oxygen 88 controller keyboard which connects via USB directly to the Mac Mini, but the same problem is evident.

I can use Logic to draw notes in the matrix view without using a MIDI controller at all.  The same problem occurs.  I have also experienced this problem in Ableton Live, so I don't think it's a Logic problem either.

The only thing I haven't tried is to try the SEM-V without any controllers connected at all and the Unitor 8 disconnected.  This wouldn’t be ideal for studio use, obviously.

Many thanks for your attention,

John

Hi

I'm really sorry for the inconvenient.
I don't think we already had this issue in Live, and in Logic it shuold have been fixed by the updates.

what is your oberheim version ? (1.1.3 ?)

I am having the same problem with Pro Tools MP 8.0.5, using SEM 1.1.3. SEM works fine in stand-alone mode, but in Pro Tools, regardless of controller or how many tracks or whatever, I get a hanging note 75% of the time, only to be remedied by exiting the plug-in and closing it, or closing Pro Tools. Nothing else works - no MIDI Panic in the DAW, nothing in SEM.

Arrgh!  Otherwise I love the plug-in.

Hi,

That is really annoying, I can't reproduce it here currently but we will try.
I hope we can help, but everything is always longer when it comes to PT.

BTW if you can reproduce it in another DAW, or a more recent version of PT, 9 or later, please tell me.
As a matter of fact we don't officially support version older than 9 anymore. And the upcoming AAX and PT11 is not helping.

So far I tried on PT9 and 10, mac 10.6 and 10.7 and even recording, or just playing, one or several track I didn't encounter any problem.

Best

My version is 1.1.3.  I haven't tried the standalone version as I don't find it much use.  I'll keep on trying it to see if there's any pattern as to when it happens.
