MiniFuse 4: Phantom power on TRS input?
« on: November 08, 2022, 07:38:57 pm »
Is there ever phantom power on the TRS part of the XLR/TRS combo jacks on the front? My guess is: No, only on the XLR inputs (and only if it switched on, of course). IIRC, phantom power could cause funny things while plugging in/out a TRS plug or using a TS plug then.

I just want to make sure that I don't accidentally fry my equipment when plugging it in via an (unbalanced) TS cable on the front of the MiniFuse 4. I couldn't find details about this in the manual.

Hello Archibalgul

Yes you are right phantom power is only available when using XLR cables, not with jacks (TS or TRS).

" IIRC, phantom power could cause funny things while plugging in/out a TRS plug or using a TS plug then."

When Phantom power is on : NEVER, and i insist, NEVER EVER disconnect any cables.
You must first turn off the +48 V , using XLR or not, doing this is the way to ensure you won't fry anything.
Cheers.
