Program Change
« on: February 06, 2021, 01:17:19 am »
Seriously disappointed after unpacking my keystep 37 and discovering it is not capable of triggering program change messages to outboard gear.

Is it possible to add this down the road? Definately a must have feature for me. I didn't think to double check that as it's such a trivial feature for a MIDI controller... especially one that includes aftertouch, can record and playback sequences, arps etc.

This is marketed as a kb controller and sequencer - how the heck could program changes be left off the feature list?

1000% supported by me. Very strange to not have this feature available. I use keystep 37 as a small effect keyboard in a live band. Have to be able to select presets of the synths I am sending notes to.

Seriously needs a program change command.
That is like midi 101, to be able to change sounds is fundamental, try using the keystep 37(or pro) with Roland Zenbeats which also doesn't do program changes(or CC send) fun times not.
My workaround involves keystep into a Roland SH-01A which does send program changes, changing the midi channel of the SH-01A to send the program change to one of my devices with the same midi channel, via a 10 way midi thru box, then changing the SH-01A back to its own midi channel and resetting the patch, hassle, gonna get a Retrokits RK-008.

Hello ... and good evening!

Does anyone know whether the situation with regard to the Keystep series being able to pass or generate Program Change messages has changed?   ???

I've just wasted 2 nights attempting to figure out why I can't do this (or even pass PC Msgs from other deives) and am not just disappointed but rather annoyed that something so fundamental is missing from a so-called 'controller' device.   >:(

I've keyboards from Novation, Native Instruments and even a legacy CME UF80 - I love the feel of the piano key-bed - and they can all do this!!! ::)

Surely this is an insignificant programming change?   ???

Arturia, are you listening?   :o

PLEASE!!!   ;)   :-*

Thanks for any help / assistance / advice you can offer...

Cheers,

Steve.
