record the "Trans"
« on: December 08, 2020, 03:54:37 pm »
Hi,

I have a pattern running in SEQ mode.
Then i press TRANS and play keys to transpose the pattern based on the scale/root settings.
why.. why isn't it possible then to press REC and have the TRANS performance recorded in this pattern, or like it would then overdub notes in pattern with new ones based on the Trans perfomance ?
is that possible ? or a request ?

also .. is it possible to change use the TRANS over multiple tracks ?
for the moment i only can TRANS on track if i select it and press TRANS + keys.
is it possible to "macro" TRANS all tracks (except drums ?)
thx

Macro / global transpose isn't yet implemented on the KSP, but hopefully it will be out with the 2.0 firmware update (see https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=101700.0). Recording transpositions would be great too, I would love to have that...

Transposing sequences and arpeggios is a temporary thing, 'transpose does not directly alter the sequence itself it is summed or subtracted from the sequence and therefore cannot be recorded. Transposition states will be lost when you switch the Keystep Pro off. If you want to save the transposed state of patterns, transpose them with the 'Shift' transpose functions (Semi up, Semi down, Oct down and Oct up) and save them by holding 'Save' and holding the track button.

Hey.
Global transpose is part of the 2.0 too.
However we haven't planned to record the transpositions.

Maybe we can have that thought of, for implementation?

Hey Andrew

Merry Christmas !

Well, I think it makes more sense to edit and save a sequence rather than to automate a transposition.
Transposition is kind of a temporary state, which offsets the pitch of the pattern by a certain value.

Having transposition variations would be hard to represent and display, this would create confusion (I believe)
I think it's better to keep transposition as is and avoid creating further complexity in the workflow.

Happy christmastime first.

Transpose a single page would be a nice feature. Or transpose selected steps maybe.
Could be faster the workflow.

See you next year

Hey Edouard, thanks for your response. I see your point and it does make sense.  You guys would know best anyways.  Looking forward to seeing what does get implemented from the long list of feature requests.  Keep up the great work and thanks again.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
