"Advanced" MIDI config/messages
« on: May 08, 2020, 03:17:11 pm »
I don't know if it's possible with KSP's hardware, but I would like to have the option to set the knobs in controlmode from CC to NRPN.
Also it would be really cool if you could send userdefined Program Change messages per Track/Project in reference to the currently playing Track/Project.
I know this isn't something everyone needs, but it would be really nice to have some time in the future.

EDIT: I just found out that the KSP is already handling Program Change Messages, because it's reacting to both my Circuit and Circuit Monostation switching Patches/Sessions, though this is not customizable through the user, which forced me to disable send/receive on my devices for this kind of message.

"Advanced" should also include

1.  Channel Program Changes within per channel track

as well as:

2.  BANK SELECT 0 and BANK SELECT 32 with Program Change per channel track

You know like the Novation SL MKIII  (except only four tracks instead of eight)

KSP, KS, KL61 MkII, VCol7, Faderfox EC4, Peak, Tyros4, Reaper

Perhaps the SL MKIII 47 is a close competitor from a value/feature perspective.

A few Main differences  (add your own):
BTW I do not know any Novation Keyboards - I do own:   Arturia Keystep MKII61 (V-Collection) & KSP

SHOOTOUT:   KSP vs Novation SLMKIII47
Price: KSP - $200 less (but half the tracks)
Size:  KSP - but lack extra octave and full size keys
Config:  Arturia MCC verses Novation Control:   Subjective?
Midi Implementation: Novation (support for Bank Select & PC per channel per track)
Midi Channel Control per track:  SL MKIII - I believe KSP is global channel?
Ease of Use:  KSP - Easy Key per function verses Menu diving
Keybed:  TBD - my new KSP already has infant mortality issues with stuck note (HW)
Sequencer/ARP:   _____________ ? Who wins here?
CV I/O support:  KSP - 8 extra for drums
# of Channels:  SL MKIII - Eight vs Four
KB Splits:  SL MKIII (up to eight)
Live Performance:  KSP - Easier to control
Faders:  SL MKIII  8 x 2 banks   (all assignable)
Knobs:   SL MKIII  8 x 2 banks   (all assignable)
Buttons:  SL MKIII 16 x 3 banks (all assignable)
OLED DISPLAYs:  SLMKIII four (4)  displays verses one (1)

.... what other key features are compelling that are not included above?

Enjoy!
