After firmware update my Keylab 49, appeared as Keylab 25
« on: November 19, 2017, 04:47:50 am »
Hello, I have been using my keylab 49 with much pleasure until yesterday morning when opening "Midi Control Center" it prompted me to update the firmware. I followed the onscreen instructions. All went well until it successfully completed the installation. But then my Keylab 49, appeared as Keylab 25 in both the "Midi Control Center" and in Apple's "Audio Midi Setup". Now I can't get it to accept the correct firmware. I get the following message: "Firmware files must fit this format: Keylab25*.bin"... But my keyboard is the Keylab49! I have downloaded the correct driver "Keylab25*.bin" but I can't install it. Any suggestions how to solve this? By the way in the folder downloaded with the firmware there is a file called "Technote_01 Firmware Update.pdf" that states that what happened to me can happen but they don't offer a fix! It is just indicated that "If you put the Wrong Firmware in Keylab, this is reversible." Then they go on to describe how to know if you installed the wrong Firmware. But not solution as how to fix the problem. Thanks for reading! Any ideas?

Hi !

Sorry to read that.

Your unit can be backed up, here is how to do:

- Make sure to use the latest version of the Midi Control Center :

http://downloads.arturia.com/extra/mcc/MIDI_Control_Center_1_7_0_217.exe

http://downloads.arturia.com/extra/mcc/MIDI_Control_Center_1_7_0_217.pkg

- Download the latest Keylab 49 firmware provided in attachment.

- I renamed it with the Keylab 25 firmware name & extension:

KeyLab49_v133.bin => to => KeyLab25_v119.bin

This way, the Midi Control Center won't refuse to load the firmware.

- Then start the firmware upgrade procedure again and select the renamed firmware.

- Once the update is finished, your Keylab should be a Keylab 49 again.

Hope this will solve your issue !

Best Regards,
Guillaume
