Midi by usb connection don't work in Studio one 4
« on: February 06, 2019, 07:31:50 pm »
Hi,
I tried all the recommended configurations, First I add Mackie controller preset in my device settings (picture 01), I check my firmware version to (picture02).
Then in Studio one 4 in Options / Externals Devices I try 3 differentes setup.
1) Add a new Mackie Control (picture03) and selected MIDIIN2 / MIDIOUT2 (I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64) but with this configuration I can't see my Keylab Esential 61 in the list of intrument (picture 04).
2) I try to add a new keyboard (picture04) and selected also MIDIIN2/ MIDIOUT2 but in this case I see my Keylab Esential 61 in the list of intrument but any midi informations going to Studio one 4 I can't get any sound and any transport assignation is possible etc...
3 )Finaly I try add a new keyboard with a midi DIN Connection going out my Keylab Esential 61 in this case midi informations are going out my keylab 61 to Studio one 4, I can get sound of vst but impossible to control assignation transport.
Do you have an idea why I can get midi with only my USB connection?
Thank you.

Hi,
I actually was looking at this page and followed the indication regarding the Keylab Essential 61 but that did not solve my problem ... Thank you for help.
Any idea ?...

Did you also do this: Plus don't forget to add a "New Keyboard" and to select the first KeyLab Essential MIDI Port into "Received From".

You shall setup both a new keyboard and a Mackie Control. In the drop down menus in Studio One be sure to select the correct options.

Do you have an idea why I can get midi with only my USB connection?
What i have suggested is when using USB. That's how i would do it.
If you need another MIDI connection, then you shall connect using hat option, whatever it is.

Hi,
The problem is that in fact in my list of input and output I don't have the choice to select :Arturia Keylab Essential DAW In and Arturia Keylab Essential DAW out because there are not in the list and I don't know why...

Have your controller connected to your computer with a USB connection.

Choose the "Arturia Keylab Essential 61" that's highlighted in your image in your Studio One A New Keyboard "Recieve From" drop down menu. You can also select it in the "Send to" drop down menu.
This set up the keyboard controls to play and control instruments. The "Recieve from" make Studio One able to recieve from your controller, and the "Send to" make Studio One able to send to your controller, if you for some reason need that.
You don't need a "Arturia Keylab Essential 61 in and out" for this. Just use "Arturia Keylab Essential 61".

Then also add a Mackie Control following this using the Arturia Keylab Essential DAW In and Out you mention: https://www.arturia.com/faq/keylabessential/keylab-essential-tips-tricks
This setup the Mackie controls you use to control your DAWs transport bar/ all the function your controller have to control your DAW functions.
I assume there are more informations in your Arturia controller manual about this.

Does'nt this work?

So, I think I resolved it. I created a new Mackie Control with this connections avaible in my list of Midi port : Receive from : MIDI IN2 (Arturia Keylab Essential) Sent to MIDI OUT2 (Arturia Keylab Essential) + created (effectively, thank you LBH) a new Keyboard with all the channel Midi selected except channel 2 (but it works to if it selected) with this connection avaible in my list of Midi port : Receive from : Arturia Keylab Essential 61 / Sent to Arturia Keylab Essential 61
Now I can control the transport fonction of Studio One 4 and also I can I see my Arturia Keylab Essential 61 in the list of my instrument avaible in the tracks ;)
Thank you again LBH for your help ;)
