Drumbrute Does Not Master Beatstep!!!
« on: January 04, 2019, 07:21:22 pm »
Hello Arturia and other Peeps,

I like the Drumbrute a lot. Sounds terrific and the seperate outs are perfect for shaping the sounds i want.

Now one thing I think its lacking is a seperate channel to send midi note data to let's say a Bass synth. Just to accompany the beats with some nice low lines...

I can do i through my DAW  offcourse but i feel it could be better hands on. So i bought a Beatstep thinking two arturia products would work flawless together. https://www.minimilitia.mobi/ https://www.applock.ooo/ https://www.7zip.vip/

So i have tried a couple of days now to get them synced, and only way i got it synced is through my DAW or by manually dialing in the speed on the Beatstep. Which is just not what i look for.

So i made the Drumbrute slave and hey it starts on the play command of the Beatstep. Only problem from there was that i couldnt get the Beatstep to play my bass synth through the midi I/O of the Drumbrute??? Bass synth was Midi channel 1 and i adjusted the Beatstep to channel 1 as wel...

As far as I know the Beatstep only has MIDI out, so you would not be able to sync directly from the Drumbrute without going via a DAW. The Beatstep Pro has far better I/O for syncing and works falwlessly with the Drumbrute with no DAW.

You should be able to sync via your DAW and then send your bass midi directly to your DAW from the Beatstep.

Drumbrute has no MIDI thru option. You could use a MIDI splitter from the Beatstep and split to the drumbrute and the bass synth. Or if the bass synth has MIDI thru, hook it to the beatstep and it will pass clock to the drumbrute from it's thru channel.

I sync the Drumbrute from BSP using the sync output clock stereo mini jack to sync in on the Drumbrute and set it to auto sync in the midi control center then your midi out is free for other duties. A midi thru box is really needed if you have many synths and drums.
