Step Sequencer Midi Note Out via USB?
« on: November 13, 2013, 01:53:08 am »
In their recent review of Microbrute, Audiofanzine indicated that step sequencer notes "can be transmitted via CV/Gate (which allows us to control an external analog synth) or USB (for the MIDI Out)." The step sequencer transmits notes fine via CV/Gate, but I can't get it to transmit notes out via USB. Is there a special setting in Microbrute Connection that I'm missing? I would like the step sequencer to trigger external synths via USB-Midi.

Very sorry to hear that! It's really an essential feature for interfacing with external midi gear. Is it possible that it will be included in a firmware update in the near future?

I was surprised the sequencer won't output midi over USB. Is it possible via a future firmware update? Cheers!  8)

it would be really nice to record midi via usb from the microbrute.

i was just trying to make a short midi sequence in ableton live with cc127 for the tap/rest.
when i could not find the note in the midi track i thought about just recording it from the microbrute.
then i notice that it doesn't even send anything but note on and off for the keyboard but not the sequencer.

btw.
i have to microbrute in my ableton live preferences.
1. MicroBrute
2. MicroBrute (Midi Interface)

what is the Midi Interface even doing? hopefully it is for later midi out implementation

I found this thread looking for the same thing. as I was reading it, I plugged my microbrute into my computer via USB and turned every option on in ableton (start stop sync, in - out message) and had it plugged into my audio interface, and noticed the sequence was in time with the drums in my session. I pressed stop on ableton, and the sequence stopped, and started again, on time, when I pressed play, so you can at least do it that way. you can always convert those notes to midi notes too.
