Controlling the MB via Piano Roll in Fl Studio / Lag problems

Hi guys!

As this is my first post, I just want to quickly introduce myself: my name's Robin, I'm from Germany and producing Darksynth / Darkwave music and I'm very happy with the power of the Matrixbrute. Love that thing.

So, as the subject indicates, I'm having problems with the MB and FL Studio 12. I've managed to connect the MB to FL Studio, and it responds to the piano roll as well (means the matrixbrute plays the notes I put in the piano roll). I've followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRRaeCw7P2Y&t=351s and it works.

Buuuuut...it's lagging, terribly.

I'm not sure if it's the DAW, or the way I've connected everything. I'm using a focusrite 2i2 2nd gen. The matrixbrute is connected via chinch to the interface, and via USB to my computer. I've tried various settings (changing sample rates, clicking random buttons in FL hoping it might fix it  ), different audio drivers (asio4all, focusrite, flstudioasio, primary...) but I'm not sure where the problem is. I was thinking an external audio interface with Midi in and out where I can plug in the MB might fix it, but I'm kind of lost in the possibilities.

Anyone experience with this?

Welcome to the forum.

It was several years ago when I've experienced a similar issue with a Scarlett 6i6 and ProTools 10.
In my case audio latency dropped significantly after switching to direct mode (see link below).
