Hello and thank you for reading!

The text file accompanying the v1.1.0.0 firmware update mentions a new feature:
"Use Program Change to switch patterns, and Bank MSB to switch Bank".

How does this work exactly (i'm fairly new to this):

for example:
Which Program Change selects which pattern?

Do i understand correctly that it is possible to switch patterns/banks from my software midi sequencer?
by sending a program change to select a pattern? in real time?

for bank switching, this is done through sysex, then? what do i send exactly?

thank you very much!

Steve

Hi , It depends what your using for midi control   but to change pattern its program select 0-15  and bank select is CC0  0-3   you can also program song select which is sysx  F3 00 TO F3 F0 FOR SONG 1-16.

Hello terrym,

thank you very much for replying and providing this info,
iI'll try this out asap :)

* in reply to "song select via sysex" (sorry but i'm new to this):
could you please write down the complete sysex command for "song select"?

* for midi control i use an old midi software sequencer program.
i can send sysex messages with it.
the manual tells me the message i send from the sequencer
should start with F0 and end with F7.

very much appreciated :)
Steve

Hi Steve . i should have been more clear F3 is a system common message and not sysex . These are very hard to implement in a daw's unlike cc or sysex .

I'm looking at this and may ask the team if it could send song select so at least we can record the midi .if its possible.

Thank you very much, Terrym! This helped a lot :)

so:
in order to "select a song", send a "F3" message to the drumbrute,
where F3 is followed by the song number (in hex): for example:
"F3 00" selects song number 1 (as 1 is written as "00" in hex).

(this "system common" type of midi message is actually called "midi song request",
in case someone would want to google it).

Meanwhile i found this "Drumbrute Faq":
it mentions a different method of selecting Bank and Pattern:
(it's under: "Can I change Song / Bank / Pattern from a MIDI message?")
here: https://www.arturia.com/faq/utilization/drumbrute-general-questions

will both methods work?

or am i just confused by all this Midi talk ;)
thanks again to Terrym,
Steve

Hi steve there both the same its just bank select and pattern change are in cc unlike song change which i still haven't been able to do . but to be honest i haven't tried too much as I'm quit busy testing the next firmware.
