There is a recent thread on the gearslutz forums started by a guy who completely restored one  of the few remaining Yamaha GX-1's (Benny Andersson's in Stockholm) to its full glory and actually posted some high quality, no-FX demos. This is something I have been waiting for for a long time.  https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/1042036-yamaha-gx-1-alive.html

I fired a bunch of questions at him and finally was able to get a complete picture of how the GX-1 produces its rich sound. Using this detailed information produced a breakthrough for me with the Origin. I will try to do the same with the CS-80V but it will require using two instances of CS-80V, panned left and right, with the PWM LFOs synchronized.

No FX on the poly GX1 programs, to show how rich (and stereo!) the synth really sounded.

Almost all of the programs use the joystick to increase, slightly, the PWM amount (Y axis) and vibrato amount (X axis)

Also for an authentic GX1 experience, when changing filter or envelope settings use them in Macro mode (via the white Select knob).

One program, 4 CS80 VCOs, 4 CS80 VCFs, 4 CS80 envelopes. Mono LFO sweeping PWM on all oscillators.

I tried to imitate Ulf's raw (no FX) GX1 Horns and Strings demos and then did a cover of the GX1 intro to Abba's Lay All Your Love On Me, with some reverb added. In my next post I'll upload an .ogs file with various GX-1 programs.

Great idea; I also think that the origin is built for it

Here is the GX1 .ogs with several programs and one multi that is a split between a GX1 stereo string pad and a solo patch.

Almost all of the programs use the joystick to increase (slightly) the PWM amount (Y axis) and vibrato amount (X axis)

Also, for an authentic GX1 experience, when changing filter or envelope setting, use them in Macro mode (via the white Select knob).

Most of these programs don't have any FX, to highlight how great the raw sound is. They sound best with a nice Concert Hall type reverb like the Valhalla VintageVerb concert hall preset, as used in this track: https://soundcloud.com/paul-schilling/nationalsang

Let me know if there are any issues with this .ogs

Did you make a GX-1 bank for the CS-80V as well?
Edit: Yes , I found it in the CS-80V forum... :D
