Various CCs for same knob - is it possible?
« on: January 05, 2016, 10:16:51 am »
Hi,

forgive the noobie, I have a question.
I try to map my Beatstep Pro to Waldorf Nave on iPad. Everything seem to work fine but I am running out of knobs as Nave has got so many parameters I can change and I would like to map more knobs than BSP actually has got.
Is there any way to map one knob to different functions so basically MIDI send/learn different CC? Like by pressing some function key on BSP?
That would be very handy.

Anyone?

Thanks

What you can do is to make several templates. Set them up in order of importance?

Second option is to hook up another midi controller with buttons and pots and assign the rest of what you want to control in Nave.

What makes difference is how you hook it up.
If you go out of controller into BSP midi in, you can play notes but NO midi control, it gets filtered out.
Or use one of these small unpowered USB splitters, 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 that you plug into camera kit thing.
Now you got another midi controller with all CCs etc. Only now you can't record notes from midi controller into BSP.
I use BSP with iPad only.... I honestly gave up on using BSP as a midi controller, instead I use Edirol PCR 300, don't need to unplug and run to computer to make a template....

Is there possible to switch between templates without computer or I have to load each template using the computer?

Make them on PC , save them and load them as you go, you can have 16 per project and there are 16 projects.

There are lots of controllers about to hit the 2nd hand market as all the companies sold their latest greatest over xmas.  They are already popping up.

I got my first midi controller years ago when I got my first Pulse.  I got a second controller the following week.  24 controllers is not enough for a Waldorf synth.  48 isn't either.  My XTk has 44 knobs, with still parameters that require menu-diving to set.  I think the Blofeld has maybe 20 unused CC's.

I now have four controllers, a total of 88 knobs and 24 sliders and an uncounted number buttons.  But I also now have 4 Waldorf synths and one of their 4 pole filters, which is basically a synth without oscillators.  I still need more knobs, sliders and buttons.....
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )
