Help! Can't load other user's patches
« on: August 30, 2016, 06:47:36 am »
Hi. I have a fully licensed Mini V that I bought as part of the Arturia V collection 4. I'm currently working on a project with a bunch of other composers; the sessions (Logic) live in dropbox and we all jump in and out of each other's sessions, working on them in tandem. My problem is that my Mini V won't load another composer's patches; when I open a session he's been working on, the Mini V will be in the right place on the right track and all the data will be there, but I'll get the following error message: "Error loading configuration. The plugin configuration couldn't be restored because it contains eLicenser data. Please insert a valid eLicenser Mini V license, then close and reopen your project. After that save the project so you don't have to do this procedure again."

Again, my Mini V is fully licensed and has never given me any problems. I emailed Arturia support and no one has gotten back to me. Any advice? I really need to be able to work on these tracks ASAP.

Thanks.

Are your partner using e-licenser and you don't? Looks like it.( Or perhaps you need the same e-licenser. Can't tell.)
If you and your partner have V-Collection 4 then you don't need to use e-licenser. You can license using Arturia Software Center (ASC).
The error happens because the posted MINI V contains e-licenser data as the error message say.

Do you get the whole plug-in posted? You should be able to get the presets in a bank you can import in your own plug-in even if your partner are using e-licenser. You need the presets in your computer anyway. The presets is not a part of the apllication.
MINI V do not need to e-licenser presets like some of the other applications have to as they else work very slow.

Hope this helps.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I am a little confused, though, by your suggestions. Let me try to be a little clearer:

1) I use the V-Collection 4 and he bought the Mini V on its own, so if I'm reading your answer correctly, that's the problem? If so, that strikes me as really, really stupid design. Is there any way around it?

2) I don't understand your question, "Do you get the whole plug-in posted?" Perhaps I should be clearer about what happens: A) My partner saves a shared dropbox Logic session, and one of the tracks will be the Mini plugin with a sound that he has customized. B) After he exits the session, I open the same session (again, it lives as a shared Dropbox file, so it's exact same info), and the track will be loaded, with Mini activated. But the sound will be wrong: on my computer, the Mini will have reset to a default setting even tho the name of his sound/patch is active & visible in patch window. We have tried having him send me, over email, the specific patch file and then loading that into Mini when it is open on my computer. No luck, still get the same error message ("Error loading configuration. The plugin configuration couldn't be restored because it contains eLicenser data. Please insert a valid eLicenser Mini V license, then close and reopen your project. After that save the project so you don't have to do this procedure again.") Any advice? This is really fucking with the project, which is on a strict deadline.

Your welcome.

First i'm a user not a Arturia employee.

Saying yes to a deadline include dealing with things like this. Also if you haven't investigated, that you can do the things, you need to be able to do, before you accept a deadline. It's also your responsibility, even if it turns out, that it's not your fault, things don't work.  Or in some cases you can use the law if you believe it's others responsibilty somehow. That's just how it is as long things work like it do today.

Now about you questions.

Before Arturia created the possibility to activate products using Arturia Software Center, then e-Licenser was used to validate the licenses.
The error message to me indicate, your partner is using a e-Licenser, and you don't. Perhaps you both use e-licenser, but the e-license have to be the same. I can't tell.
E-Licenser is Steinberg software protection system. Arturia Software Center (ASC) is a Arturia system.

I don't think it matter if you got the V-collection. But your activation methods should be the same if what you try to do shall have a chance to work at all. I suggest to quit e-Licenser and use Arturia software Center to activate, if you wan't to try sharing projects the way you try to.
I don't know if you can share the whole plug-in. Even if you can then you would have to share the presets too, as a preset is'nt a part of the application/ plug-in. Presets exist as informations in files on a computer. For instance on windows they are in the hidden folder "ProgramData".

You can just share a preset and use your own applications. You say you have tried. But is it a MINI V preset file or a  MINI V Bank file he have posted, for you to import into your MINI V - or is it a DAW preset. It will not work using a DAW preset, but it should work otherwise.
Your partner shall eksport the preset or the bank file from his MINI V and you shall import it into your MINI V.
You said you had VC4. So i presume you both use MINI V2.
NOTE: If you have updated your VC4 to use MINI V3, and your partner has MINI V2, then you can not share presets this way, as the preset management has changed in MINI V3. Then the MINI V2 preset has to be converted first using a software released by Arturia, and the preset might not sound excactly the same. Perhaps it do with some tweaking.

A simpel way to share projects is to stem out audio tracks from the DAW. You will not be able to change the preset settings this way as it's audio. But you should not have technical difficulties or technical things like all this to find out.

I hope this will help and you'll find out how to get things done before your deadline and without stress.

I can't explain further. If you contact Arturia, then you can post the same, you wrote in your last post, and also informations about how you and your partner have activated you products (using ASC/ e-Licenser), and about what preset file type you use, and about the MINI V versions you and your partner is using. It's hard to answer and solve anything without all relevant informtions.
