CLK IN - reset
« on: December 15, 2015, 09:03:20 pm »
Hi all,

So the BSP seems to work when clocking it via CV (CLK In). However, I can't seem to figure out how to get the sequence to reset to step 1 if I stop my machines and playback.

I looked in the forum and saw some discussion about briefly about this, but I don't think it addressed the reset on CV clock.

Anybody out there doing this that could steer me in the right direction?

Much appreciated guys -

Now that I think about this, the CLK In has to be Din, so what I'm trying to do (sending the BSP divisions of CV clock with just an 1/8' cable) won't work unless I some sort of a sync box that converts clock.  Transport information can't be transmitted in the way that I'm doing it.

Word has it you can use a stereo 1/8" jack and it will work.  Do a search here on the forum boards for more info on which is channel is clk and which is start/stop.

Just bought a splitter cable, stereo to mono, works great. Clock in one mono, start/stop in the other. Setting the clock speed in MCC to 1 makes it sync at one bsp step per clock on my eurorack :)

word doggies.

i'll give that a whirl and get back to you.

i started having abstract thoughts after that post - fucked around and bought a Future Retro Swynx box which converts midi clock to uber odd time signatures, shoots them shits out of a Din port (to BSP in this case).

i have a hard on thinking about it...i'll report back about the din, and your suggestions - i'll keep the hard on to myself.

stay weird.

Those Swynx do look like some fun.  Considered getting one, but would get a Zillion before that.  Another great tool for bizarre rhythms is Electro-Harmonix Clockworks.
Some great fun can be had when cycling other sequencers using a custom gate pattern from the Beatstep Pro.  Even more fun when it's triggering steps in a pattern that is not 4/4 and only re-aligns every 28 steps (or some number just as odd).

yoo that EHX looks sick.

after i read that i actually had that in the cart and then suddenly realized that i have like 3 clock divider modules from Doepfer, including a ratcheting clock. needless to say, i ended up not buying the EHX and coming back to earth.

i think i'm just lusting for new gear even though i don't need any of it!!! lol

It happens, heheh.  I'm a sucker for sequencers.  There's the Swynx, Zillion and Orb from Future Retro, Clockworks and 8 Step from EHX, even the sequencer on the Volca Beats has some cool features (although it needs to be modded to get the midi data out of it).  That one Social Entropy are promising looks amazing.  And not to mention that one I'm not going to mention until I have one (if I tell you, I may miss getting one myself ;) but seek and ye shall find).
Then there is the modular track......head exploding sequencers available for eurorack, just modular systems can eat people whole.  And when they appear again from the other end, they are mumbling incoherently about modulating an LFO with a furby to create a clock divider to feed the sample reduction depth rate of a bit crusher which collapsed the timespace fabric of the studio for 6 months when it accidentally put out a 0 value and the division rate.
(Still don't know how I can feed the bit rate of the bit crusher in my patchblock 2.5bits and it work).
