BSP midi start command to drum machine issue
« on: August 29, 2015, 07:04:33 pm »
Hi there,

I have an issue with syncing my DAW with BSP and an Oberheim Dx drum machine.

When I connect the BSP to my computer via USB. The midi out of the BSP is connected to an Oberheim DX drum machine.

When the bsp sync is set to USB and I hit play in the DAW(Live 9 64Bit), it will take about 10 tries till the Oberheim DX will receive the start command so I need to keep pressing play and stop until it 'catches'. Pressing stop in the daw will work with no problem and stop the oberheim.
Everything works fine if the bsp is the master.
Normally, I would think that the issue is with the daw or Oberheim preferences BUT I also own the regular Beatstep and when trying the same thing with the Beatstep, the Oberheim DX will start every time with no problem.

In the midi settings of the Live, the output to BSP 'Sync' is on and the input 'Track' is on. The Oberheim is set to receive Start/Stop commands on all midi channels.

Any ideas anyone??

Thanks!

Bump. Also sent a message to the Arturia BSP support 10 days ago and never heard back. Again, this works with the Beatstep but not with the Beatstep pro. I also tried to connect the computer direct to the Oberheim DX via midi and it worked perfectly fine.

Hi I don't have a dx to test but I'm guessing it may be something to do with some issues with the FW of the bsp in slave mode this is a know issue which will be fixed in the next update .

maybe try  1.1.1.4 below as this works ok for me when the bsp is in slave .

give it a try and let me know

regards

Thanks for the reply.

I actually have the 1.1.1.4 installed right now since I had issues with the DIN sync clock as well (the half time issue mentioned here in the forum).
I tried both with this version and the last update and unfortunately couldn't get it to work right. I'm hoping that the next update will solve this.

Sorry for the confusion, I have an Oberheim  DXa which is a factory midified machine (similar to DMX).
I just heard back from Arturia and been asked to perform a certain test which I'll be able to do later today and report.
