BeatStep Pro - Not having fun - Let's get this fixed
« on: July 21, 2015, 07:29:11 am »
Got my Beatstep Pro a couple days ago. Just now giving it a work out.
So far... Terrible!

I wanted to add my issues here to see if we can amass a consensus on what the issues are from the factory opposed to user error.

I have it set up very simply and this is the way I was hoping to use it going forward.

-Standalone. Powered by USB wall adapter
-Cv Gate straight to modular
-BSP Clock out to Brains or Clock div (Tik Tok)
-No midi involved -No computer involved
-Yes! Updated firmware

PROBLEMS
-Getting ghost notes on simple sequence from track one or two.
-Clock out is very fast. Have to divide by 4 to get a synced quarter note.
(Yes. Changed the setting to pulse per 1 beat.

Has anybody found workarounds for any of this?
Do we just wait for another firmware update?
It's a bummer to beta test a product that you've paid for.

The clock set to 1 step worked for me. Are you sure you correctly transferred your settings to the device ?
Ghost notes : it could be the randomness setting.

The mcc app seems a bit temperamental its taken me several attempts to change some parameters. (Also my custom drum mapping keeps getting reset when i connect..)

So with the clock issue i would try again, change the value to 48 and back to 1. It should work eventually..

I have tried every possible way to change these preferences and sync them back to the Beatstep. It's just not working.

Every time I sync any settings to any project slot it defaults back to 120 bpm, puts random at 50%, among other things.
But I am able to sync sequences.

The clock out has sort of fixed itself. It used to just go super fast. Now it runs at 1/8th notes. Have to divide by 2 to sync 1/4 note to 1/4 note.

This is all very frustrating. I'm considering sending it back and figuring out another sequencing option.

Also, I discovered the sequencer is putting out notes a couple octaves too high. And I can't adjust it with out the control center syncing reliably.

I hope Arturia is listening. I hope they can update the firmware quickly.

The clock sets in 1 step depends on the Drums sequence's time division. In other words the clock speed (only in 1 step) will change depending the division.
