external power supply, no more connection with laptop
« on: July 16, 2016, 06:45:50 am »
Hello everyone, happy to be here! I have some issue with my brand new BeatStepPro,
I don't know if anyone else has the same problem but so far I didn't find nothing similar.
Here's de question :

my set up :

SH 101
MicroKorg
MacBookPro (El Capitan) + Abeton 9.6
LaunchPad
uc33e

The SH101 is connect by cv/gate to the BTP,
MiroKorg is connected by MIDI OUT to the BTP,
Drum rack from Ableton play by BSP drum session.

If I connect the BSP by usb only, everything works perfect, everything is stable and very responsive, except
(of course) for the loop ground noise create by the cv/gate.

If I use the Y connector for the external power supply (from IPad) then drum rack doest'n work anymore, there is actually no connection with my mac and also the connection with MidiControllerCenter is gone.

I've tried many things so far: different cables, different charger, different set up of Ableton, but still doesn't work. Just sometimes works for a while but suddenly stop again, for ever.

Could be a problem of the Y cable supplied ?

Its' a shame because I really like the BTP, but like this it's unstable and I cannot risk during a live set.

I really hope it's just a simple issue and someone can help me.

have a nice day
cheers

igorigy

Hi Altieri,
Either your Y adapter is faulty, either you connect it the wrong way.
  • PC labelled connector must be connected to you MacBook Pro
  • PWR labelled connector must be connected to your power supply (IPad it seems)
  • Male connector to your BSP

Regards,
Y.
