Multi line MIDI sequence
« on: April 24, 2015, 08:55:57 pm »
Hello everyone,
My name is Pierre.  I am new to both MiniLab and this forum.
As I said, I have a MiniLab. I would like to program the buttons to send MIDI sequences to my Yamaha Motif Rack-XS tone generator.

Here is a sample of a MIDI sequence I need to send to my Rack-XS:
B0 00 3F (bank select MSB = 3F)
B0 20 01 (bank select LSB = 1)
C0 0C (program change = 0C)

Do you think this can be programmed into the a single pad of the MiniLab using MIDI control center?
Or, do I have to use multiple pads?  I would prefer having it in one since this is a voice change for the Rack-XS and I will probably have many of those sequences.

Thank you in advance

Hi !

Unfortunately this won't be possible with a Minilab.

If you assign a midi note to a pad, you won't make the pad change his midi note just by trigging it.

This might be realized if the command includes multiple trig eg: encoder with a clic.

Best Regards

It's not possible to send any arbitrary sequence, but a simple bank select and program change is possible:

In the MIDI Control Center, click on the pad you wish to assign this sequence to.  Then in the settings below for that pad, where it says 'Mode', click and select 'Patch Change' from the drop-down menu.  You will then see settings for Program Number, Bank LSB and Bank MSB.  Set these to 12, 1 and 63 respectively to configure the pad to send your example sequence.
