LFO amp and rate noises - scratchy/crackle
« on: January 19, 2015, 05:57:41 pm »
It seems as though there is some noise leakage from the circuit when adjusting the LFO amp knob and LFO rate knob. When turning the LFO amp through "+" or "-" it makes a scratchy hiss.

Anyone know if this can be eliminated by some kind of modification like internal sheilding?

Hi Chi,

I'm at work now with pretty sub par speakers on my work computer, but if you can take a photo of your patch setup with oscillators set to 0 and the MB still generating some strange LFO related buzzing, I will be able to copy the patch precisely and record the results. Then we can be sure we are comparing apples to apples, so to speak.

Hi Zedius,

Yeah, the recordings are pretty quiet, I should probably have boosted the level up a bit but I wanted it to be a true representation and didn't want to be accused of trying to make it sound worse than it was!

I shall take a pic of the setting and send it to you in a little bit.

Thanks again for doing this - I really appreciate it  ;)

Hi Chi,

Your photos all look like the same patch to me - is there something I'm missing?

The good news is this patch results in an identical sound to the one in your first recording. So our minibrutes are either both working or both faulty!

I think they are both working, and this is just the behavior of the amp circuit when driven to its maximum level by the LFO.

Hi Zedius,

No - they are all the same patch! I wasn't sure they were coming out right.

Brilliant - I will conlude that this is normal and that our brutes are working fine!  :)

Thanks again for the assistance!

I still haven't gotten round to testing the sequencer via external midi yet - have you tried turning on/off Local Control?  I'm not sure if it is relevant but perhaps.

Best Wishes

Chi
