Spark frozen in "Spark Updater"

I bought the spark today, and installed the main software from the CD, and after that updated it with the latest version from the website.

When I started up the "Spark" software on my computer, it said I should update the spark controller, so I clicked okay. The updater then got stuck at 0% for over 30mins before it crashed, and left the spark itself just displaying "Spark Updater" on the LCD. I restarted the software, clicked update, but now it says that the spark controller is not connected. I restarted my computer, unplugged the USB, turned the spark on and off, but all it says is Spark Updater on the LCD and the software won't recognize it anymore, even after reinstalling the software.

Is there a way to reset the spark or a way to fix this? I just got this thing and haven't even been able to use it.
