Well, you are currently pointing two totally distinct things: one bug, and the Tech Support response.
On the first one, the user's favorite presets disappearance, we are currently testing the resolution or workaround, and will hopefully post something later this morning. I keep a fair pressure on my clever colleagues at Dev Team.
On the second one, I just found one correspondence from your in our incident tracker in December'09, which I assume was answered late (within 4 calendar days).
