Using the arpeggiator on an external signal?
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:12:27 pm »
I am using the arp as an EFX plugin on a synth. So far I have been able to process the external signal by connecting the pre-amp out to the VCA input on the mixer and add chorus and delay to my signal.

My question is - is it possible to use the arperggiator functions using an external sound? As opposed to one created by the VCOs. So I want to take the sound from my external synth (in this case Vanguard) and process this through the Arp making use of its arpeggiator functions.

I have tried patching the pre-amp output to various different inputs with no joy (I either get zilcho sound or some wonderful squeeling if i patch it bad!). Any tips on getting this right or if its actually possible?

I'm a relative newbie to modular synthesis after recently owning a nord modular I got more interested in it, so be gentle in any explanantions!

Thanks

In an ARP2600 oscillator the pitch can be controlled using voltage. When an external sound is modulated by a voltage it can only control the volume.
