Don't be tempted to buy the Prophet V - I notice it's been almost 9 months since the first post in this thread. Looks like they don't plan to fix this problem!

Isn't this issue only a problem for us Mac G5 users? Every day that goes by Arturia cares even less about us and our "old" technology. I hope I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt this will ever be fixed.

Didn't there used to be some replies from an Arturia employee on this thread? And they've been removed? Hmm...

Hi everyone,

Be convinced we read and integrate everything on these forums, and of course what rises from our support department. We do not want to let our customers on the sand after they bought our synths, neither good for them nor for us.

We are currently working on several projects at a time, and it makes a huge amount of daily (sometimes nightly) work for each one of us.
Okay I won't confuse you, we are software (and now hardware) makers, it's our job and we know what that means; but sometimes things take longer time than planned.

Concerning the ProphetV and Jupiter8V multi-instance bug, we are currently working on it (yah, really!), and we expect an update or at least a bug-fix release before the end of the year (yah, 2007!). This is an hard-to-solve bug, as it occurs on some machines/systems and not others, but we'll face it efficiently.

As of today, I have no other piece of advice that: "Bounce, bounce, bounce your tracks!".
As I could read somewhere around there, all synthesizers have never been perfect, and everytime users have circled bugs and weird behaviours adapting their playstyle, sometimes reusing those. Okay again, that's not an excuse, but it helps putting in perspective the hard work of synthesizers' manufacturing.

And no, as I could read elsewhere, the Prophet-V and Jupiter-8V are definitely NOT useless, they sound, and they sound really great; they also are a bit CPU-hungry on some machines/systems combinations, and some bugs are a bit annoying, but mostly can be sidestepped.

Hope that will help keeping everyone on a comprehensive and friendly mood...

Good oscillations to all,

Antoine.

very grateful to get some insight information :)

I DO agree it sounds great, as I said earlier, that's why I bitch around ;)

btw. Since using Logic 8 I'm having a new bug, random activation of the sustain pedal (or that button on the Prophet with the same function) this doesn't happen to the other synths I use, but could well be a logic8 issue in handling data in some sort of weird way. Don't know...

As soon as the crackling bug is sorted out I'll give the Jup a try ;) I don't mind CPU hogs when quality comes at a price.
