QA on manufacturing improved?
« on: December 02, 2013, 11:37:52 pm »
Hey Guys,

I've ordered the Microbrute, and I'm wondering if the quality assurance for manufacturing has been improved?

One notable area of interest is the calibration on the mod/pitch wheel. Have the problems with the Minibrute been sorted out in the Microbrute?

I'm looking forward to this amazing synth!

I thought mine was broken, but it turns out I didn't pay attention to my filter cutoff setting >.>

I have an audible difference in the upper half of the mod wheel :)

What I don't have is an answer from support on the other quality issue I had. I bought mine new from Guitar Center on November 20th. It was missing seven of the twelve screws holding the bottom plate on, and three of the remaining five weren't screwed down all the way  ::)

I tightened the three, the synth seems to function (and it doesn't even rattle), but I've been waiting ten days for Arturia to tell me if the warranty will still be honored. I was asked to provide a picture, I replied to the email with one attached. In case that was 'not good' (and it's not clear if I can just reply to an email from support or not) I tried to go into the My Arturia section and it's down lol. All I want to know is

Luckily for Arturia I have until 2014 for returns/exchanges due to the time of year  :P

I'm assuming, though, that since people from Arturia are telling people to open their synths to check calibrations if there are various issues, that my warranty, should I need it, is fine.

Yikes! This sounds like some Major QA issues...

I work in manufacturing as an engineer. I've been on the line and I know how easy it is to forget screws, but KrisM, your synth shouldn't have left the factory.

Thankfully, I've ordered mine from a very good store in Canada where they give you a 30 day exchange/return policy, no matter the time of year... so I should be covered if I encounter any MicroBrutally missed manufacturing steps. Even with the exchange policy, buying this synth scares me and I'm sure this must be embarrassing for Arturia.
I'm still hoping I'll receive a fully functional synth, the MicroBrute sounds amazing and it looks like it plays amazing too. I've actually designed some devices to use with the Microbrute... I'm that excited.

What else am I going to encounter when I receive my MicroBrute? Anyone else find lax manufacturing mistakes? Anything specific I should check for on my MicroBrute when it arrives?
(I'd like to be prepared when I receive it)

The build is rock-solid, I didn't know the screws were missing until I went to flip it over for the serial number. Nothing rattled at all.

The mod and pitch wheel are stable and responsive, and feel like I could put a lot of weight on them. The knobs all twist with a very smooth, firm feel, and the sliders are the same. Assuming it had come out of the box perfect and I didn't purchase it, I'd have expected this thing to cost $400 at least. Time will tell if the mod matrix jacks will hold up, but it is quite the sturdy little synth.

It's also very quiet when there are no notes being played. It only makes a little hiss if I crank up the Ultrasaw w/ out the saw being turned up, but I'm not knocking it for that at all. Just an observation of how quiet it is when used normally (because Ultrasaw is useless w/ out the saw first hehe).

;D That's good news! Thanks for the feedback, that gives me a bit more confidence in this synth.

Anybody else experience problems with their Micro?

Arturia, has QA been improved since the Mini?
