Beatstep only outputs on Channel 1

I'm not able to get my beatstep to send MIDI out on anything other than channel 1. If I hold down the CHAN button I can set it to other channels, and holding it down again shows its remembered the value I set. Yet whenever I play a pad or turn the controllers they always send on channel 1. Any suggestions?

sorry, was a long time ago. I did get it working in the end - I think by doing some kind of factory reset or reinstalling the drivers
