External Controller for MIDI CC

Hi everyone,

My question:
I'm considering to buy a "MIDI Fighter Twister" - as a work around - to get parameter control on different channels.

Does anyone have experience with it?
Does it work outside of a DAW as well (, just on a soft-synth)?
