When setting up a filter envelope, say with envelope 2...which parameter acts as the envelope amount?
Is it the modulation amount on the filter cutoff?

Yes if you set a positive Envelope modulation amount, then will work like a traditionel Filter Envelope Amount, when it's modulating a Filters Cutoff.
