Sub-steps
« on: April 12, 2021, 08:23:51 am »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would have found a way to program sub-steps with KSP. Would be super cool especially with drums. What i mean is tha ability to program several hits for one step. I think those are also called flams or slices with certain products like Volca Drum or Roland tr-series.

Ratcheting is another term and yes, this would definitely be good for drums and stab sounds, heck anything really, if you want to be creative.  I think this would be a great addition to the KSP.  Contact support and let them know your thoughts, so it can be made note of.

Hey there is a tiny workaround we found (although I will agree it is not the best)!  a hidden feature indeed

- Lower BPM to 30bpm
- Activate a drum on the step you want the ratchet to happen (quantized)
- Shift + Rec (unquantize)
- Press play
- Play the drum the number of time you want the ratchet to happen (on the same step as the quantized drum but just after)
- Press Shift + Quantize 50%
- Set you BPM where it was

I know it is not the best and the easiest but it kind of work...

Thanks

Second workaround, you can use the Chain pattern feature combined with the Last Step + Time div per pattern in order to get that working.

- Create a pattern 1 with drum Lst step set to 12, Time Div set to 1/16
- Copy pattern to 2.
- Set second pattern Lst step to 8, Time Div 1/32
- Hold Chain select Ptrn 1, 2 in the order you want

Thanks
