Minibrute needs to be started twice to get sound

My Minibrute has this problem as described in the locked sticky. Was there ever a remedy for this problem?

make sure that the cord has the ability to handle the maximum current needed by  MiniBrute, so you can start enjoying its rich, full sounds immediately.  integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e., the second harmonic is twice.
