Error in manual?
« on: July 20, 2020, 10:14:45 pm »
Greetings folks,

I think there's a possible error in the manual for the Delay effect.

Version 2.0, Page 116, 8.7.12. Delay

In the table below the graphic:

LP Freq Higher values cause increased reduction of high-frequency content with each echo

As a low pass filter, when the values increase (in Hz) the filter is opening up, therefore allowing more high-frequency content to come through.

Let me know if ya'll agree or if I'm reading that wrong.

Cheers!
JD

Agreed. It should have been:
HP Freq Higher values cause increased reduction of low-frequency content with each echo
LP Freq Lower (not higher) values cause increased reduction of high-frequency content with each echo

I can add, that i think the reduction is very hard from the beginning. I would'nt mind to have more control over the reduction amount without using modulators.

Thanks for the reply, LBH.

Taking that further, if I were to put my technical writing hat on, a clearer way to write it would be to use more concise language like:

HP Freq: Higher values reduce low-frequency content with each echo.
LP Freq: Lower values reduce high-frequency content with each echo.

Pigments is great, but I tend to agree that the Pigments effects controls feel a little off. For me this goes for pretty much all the onboard effects. It could be the curves for the various controls are "different" than then norm, not 100% sure. To me they are harder to dial in than other effects that I use.

I would add that a graph for the HP and LP filters on each effect would be a handy visual guide as well.

Great, so where does this leave us?

Is there a member of Arturia that can log this as a change request for future releases?
