Does anyone know of a desktop program (windows or Mac) THat I can use to see the current tempo when my Beatstep is the master controller?

MIDI-OX (for Windows) has a "MIDI Sync Transport" window (you show it through View, MIDI Sync) that will show the received clock, as long as you add the BeatStep MIDI port to its list (in Options, MIDI Devices).

There might be other, simpler, more specific tool apps for this, but if you have MIDI-OX already for other things (useful to debug MIDI issues through the MIDI Monitors) this could be a solution :)

Thanks! I did not even know that feature was available. I was able to get it to show tempo with no issues.

It did however confirm a strange problem. When I press play on my beatstep. The first tempo sent is approx 1/2 what its supposed to be. on the 2nd beat the correct tempo is then sent.

Makes it almost impossible to use as a sequencer if that keeps happening :(
