connectivity beatstep pro / minibrute 2
« on: March 02, 2020, 06:40:08 am »
i am new to this world of sequences and the language/terms/abbreviations etc. i have some basic questions.    1] if i connect midi out of minibrute2 into midi in on beat step pro i assume i won't hear any influence in the earphones of the mini brute. If i also connect the midi out of the beat step into the midi in on the mini brute --- should i hear the beat step pro ?
2] if i connect the midi out of the minibrute to the midi in on the beatstep and then
go out of the beatstep to another device [ Boss RC-505 loop station ] should i hear everything through the earphones on the RC-505?
3] am i thinking in away that makes sense [ slave - master ]

4] the Midi Control Center ...... and the two arturia devices communicating. .......
Beatstep pro --- user channel is 2 / seq1 send is 1 and recieve is 1 / seq2 send is 2 and recieve is 2.
Mini brute ...... user channel is 1 / and midi input channel is "user"
5] Do i have to change some of these parameters or do some other type of modifications to connect ?
I have all the manuals which are confusing for a rookie. Any other sources/tutorials [ am i missing something from the website ? ] would be appreciated.
 thank you

Midi is only note on / off / CC data, it doesn't transmit audio at all.
Let's say you plug Keyboard A into Keyboard B using Midi out to Midi in, you set Keyboard A to transmit on Channel 1 and Keyboard B to receive in Channel 1. When you play Keyboard A, Keyboard B will also play as though you were pressing its keys at the same time, but it won't transmit audio back to Keyboard A.

thank you !!    ...... do the channels have to be the same on each unit [ channel 1/channel 1 not
channel 1/channel 3 ) .......is this based on internal assignments set in the units themselves ?

Connectivity continued :
devices: Beatstep Pro, Ronand TR-8 drum,Minibrute2, mixing board to audio.
my thought are to us the TR-8 and it's drum audio unaltered.
the Minibrute2 for audio for Sequencer 1&2 on the Beatstep Pro
TR-8 for audio on Sequencer 3 .... drums on Beatstep Pro
question ..... is this realistic ?
do i need to add some other device ?
Confused about what my procedure should be:
1]  connecting midi in/out
2]  channels and time clock
3]  and being able to hear what i'm doing
both TR-8 and Minebrute2 have phone jacks/and mixing board
if i create some sequences on Beatstep pro i can hear them threw the
Minibrute2  if i do some minor channel changes

as you can tell i am floundering around, and learning as i go!
any suggestions will be appreciated.
ps: buried in manuals and u-tube tutorials.
