Choppy sound through soundcard
« on: June 13, 2005, 02:06:09 am »
When I use my soundcard (tascam fw-1884) to play the mini - the sound is choppy.  When I use the internal sound - it is fine.  Anyone know what's up or if I have to do a new install of the update or what?
Yes, thank you.

You may have a latency problem with your Tascam sound card.
Increasing the latency of your driver may help to remove the problems you have.

Still Choppy

I increased the latency and still choppy - the CPU is up in the red on most presets.  What's the deal - I would hate for this to be just how it is - b/c it is unusable if so.  What's up!?
Yes, thank you.

There must be something wrong if you always have a overloaded cpu.
What is our computer exactly ?

I have a mac g4 1.42

I just have to turn off the poly voices for some sounds and turn off other switches - so I guess I figured it out, but it just is sucky to have to change the presets b/c different ones overload the cpu - but whatever, I guess that's the way it is and I do like the sounds a lot, just not having to once again figure out the problems of yet again another program - thanks for your time

hi,

Me too I have CPU overloaded with miniMg 1.5 on PC P4 3.4Ghz
presscott, 2GO Memory DDR2.
It's not on every presets, but some presets are high yet, then if I choose
sound clipping, CPU become overloaded even if I don't play.

I use CS80V 1.5 too and I don't have any problem with this one.
Any way to make miniMg behave like CS80V for CPU?

Word poropat, - that is exactly what is happening.  Turning off the soft clipping helps and so does turning off the polyphonic voices, but its too bad that that has to be the case.
Yes, thank you.

Hi all,

first just to say I have just got Vintage Collection and it is fantastic!
Some of the best soft synths I have ever heard!

But a slight hitch:

using the MiniMg as an AU plugin in Logic 7.1

Sometimes getting the same chopped up sound as earlier posts.
Not related to buffer size as no other synth does this - many require more dsp than MiniMg.

Certain sounds "trigger" full dsp useage in Logic, and it remains on full whether you play a note or not. No audio is produced.
Subsequent playing of the Mg is now chopped up.

The dsp useage can sometimes be reset by toggling the mono/poly option and/or choosing another patch. Other times, I must choose "no plugin" in Logic and start again.

Other Arturia synths seem fine in Logic.

Any ideas?

thanks...
