Keystep and Behringer UM2
« on: August 31, 2019, 11:30:32 am »
Hello,

I need some help connecting these two. I was kinda doing fine without the interface but that last thing i created in garageband i noticed a lotta unwanted distortion in one line.

The store i bought these things from made it seem like it was all plug and play..

Can I use a midi to 3.5mm and 1/4 inch adapter to connect my keystep to the um2? Somewhat like this
https://www.amazon.ca/kenable-3-5mm-Stereo-Audio-Cable/dp/B00KQUZQ4O/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=midi+to+1%2F4&qid=1567244164&s=gateway&sr=8-7

?

The I saw some person with a microbrute had the same problem but the suggested cable someone linked is a dead link.

Thank you in advance.

What exactly are you trying to do?  What are you recording?
KeyStep is a MIDI controller and makes no sounds of its own so you don't need to connect it to your audio interface.
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )

UM2 is an audio interface. KeyStep is a midi controller. It doesn't have any internal sounds, therefore you won't ever connect it to the UM2. A clearer understanding of what you're actually trying to do will be helpful.
