Are you KIDDING me???
« on: June 06, 2019, 01:41:11 pm »
What the hell, Arturia. This is the way you treat paying customers? -> https://imgur.com/a/sxQpjrY
A captcha AND two questions. First of all 90% of the time i can't even read the Captcha, and have to click countless times until i get on that i can read. Then come two more questions. One was "What's the most famous Moog Synth?" - How the F should i know? The Moog Modular? The Moog Mother 32? The Moog Voyager? The Moog Phatty? - Really depends on who you ask. And Notes from the major C scale? You do know they are different in different parts of the world. In Germany they are CDEFGAH - but in the US they are differntly named. So i have to enter this shit again and again.

And i have to answer this crap every single time i want to post a question. Excessive much? I spend money on your company. You know i am a paying customer. Is there really a huge risk of me posting spam? And really no better way to deal with it? This is insane and extremely disrespectful to people who pay you.

It's to discourage spammers, of which we get (pardon expression) absolute shitloads. Every one of whom have answered the captcha and the comparatively-specialist security questions correctly. Even when they can barely type English. Not sure what else Arturia can do. Have you any suggestions?

Arturia has my customer data. They know i am a customer, what i paid and what i bought. So i really very much doubt that "shitloads of spammers" would first buy the V Collection, spending anywhere from 249-500$ to spam on a user forum. So, yes, Arturia could do a much better Job. Starting with white-listing Customers who paid them for good service. Criminalizing me per automation is absolutely not way to keep the brand image up. If that's what they think customer service should look like, i can tell Arturia there are a lot of companies i can buy from with equality good synths.

It's pretty shocking Arturia would decide to put their customers in a bag with spammers, because they are too lazy to find a better solution. You can code all these synths but not a solution for spam? because every other synth company can. I never saw this shit on the Native Instruments or even Image Line forum.

I speak from practical experience when I say that operating/hosting a large forum like this is not easy, and not always fun for all.  The first line of defense against spammers *should be* active moderation.  Simply put, there's little anyone can do stop the most tenacious spammers.  So each post needs to be read, all categories need to be read frequently, and black lists/white lists created and actively maintained.  I agree with the OP that all these captchas and questions is merely a form of harassment to your real customers and, while they *might* help, are merely a bandaid to a chronic condition - the scourge of spam.
