Performing with minilab live questions
« on: August 16, 2017, 09:58:58 pm »
Hi I am very new to using this hardware, extreme newb status.

If I was to perform live, what would be some methods of amplifying the keyboard?
Do I need to have a laptop plugged into the keyboard at all times?  Would rather perform without having to bring a laptop.

Thanks!!!

Hello RickVain,
I think what you are asking is not possible, because the Minilab is a Controller, not an actual synthesizer. The controller accesses virtual instruments via Analog Lab, in conjunction with your DAW. You could and should be able to perform live, but I am still working out how to map the MIDI sounds from Analog Lab 4 into Ableton Live 9 on a recording basis. It will pick up the MIDI and basic notes, but not the particular sounds.

Anyway, if you want to play live and not use a laptop, look into actual synthesizers. You may want to ensure you have a sequencer as well (i.e. Beatstep). For example, I was able to use the beatstep with a Korg Volca Bass with no laptop.
