I'm still not sure why the MB cant receive start / stop commands
on a patch made with the ARP / SEQ
All im told is that no Arp on synths can start / stop
I agree on a normal ARP this may be true
but the MB is different its not a normal ARP
its also a sequence that can be saved as a patch
with all the note detail in the ARP
so I'm still confused as to why
if it cant be done perhaps I should put a feature request in to Arturia
cheers

It was answered. Below is the answer again, quoted from gearslutz - might as well have the info right here...
The Matrix Arpeggiator have arpeggiator "semantics" when it comes to playing and synchronizing. Syncing works just as for the vanilla Arpeggiator - I.e. it doesn't obey MIDI start/stop messages, but runs as long as there's a MIDI clock.
Some DAWs, can be set to not transmit MIDI clock unless you first start the sequencer - this mode would work to make sure the arpeggiator only plays when the sequencer does, but it will not reset the pattern to the beginning, as a sequencer might do, when it receives a start or stop message.
For the arpeggiator modes, letting go of all the keys, and then pressing some keys again, will reset the patter to the beginning. So if you want the Matrix or vanilla -arpeggiator pattern to start at the beginning when the MIDI clock starts, you must press the keys afresh before the clock starts arriving.
This is not a bug, it is by design.

Hi
Welcome to Gearslutz!
I don't know how I did it, but I created a very nice
sound using the ( seq & arp ) buttons together
so on my seq page I have both red & blue Lights
This means you have entered the
Matrix Arpeggiator mode. It's a mix of a sequencer and an arpeggiator in a way, with an arpeggiator octave pattern for up to four keys (the four rows of blue lights), and with MOD, Slide, Accent and Step enable tracks as for the sequencer (the red lights). See the user manual page 48 for more details.
It's like like an arpeggiator in that you need to hold down some keys to get any sound, which will the be arpeggiated according to the programmed pattern. Like for the arpeggiator, you can switch on Key Hold and hit some keys and it will then keep going.
Now I want to sync this with my daw ( bitwig )
with the arturia spark le
...so I press the MIDI sync button on the MB
and start my daw, the drums start but not the MB
I have the correct settings in bitwig IE send midi clock and start stop
if I adjust the tempo the MB sync clock also adjusts to the same tempo
but the MB only starts if I have the Seq on, not both the seq and the arp
am I doing something wrong or is this not possible
cheers

I'm not sure if the Matrix Arpeggiator (or the vanilla arpeggiator) will obey MIDI start and stop messages when you have some held keys - I'm not at the MxB to test this right now, but with this information you can hopefully find out.
Edit: I've now tested, and the Arpeggiator and Matrix Arpeggiator does not obey MIDI start and stop messages, they just play as long as there's a MIDI clock.
