Newbee to here and newbee Q. Headphone output.
« on: November 29, 2018, 08:03:36 pm »
   Hi all

I just put on layaway a minibrute.

I found an ac adapter that is 12v 1amp 12watts

It fit and powered on.

I plugged in headphones and all i got was noise and little else and at very nearly inperceptible volume.

Am i getting the perverbial pig in a poke?

Its in great shape and the octave led's lit up and i figured i would take a chance.

I can return it once bought but would like to know what i need to know.

Thanks again all.

Mate, you haven't paid for it yet have you?  Sounds like it either has the mixer section set up with mostly noise and not much else.  If not, it could be broken.  Where are you buying it from?  I don't know about the second hand sales over there but here you have a 30 day return period if it's from a store.

If you can, go back into the place and if possible take a brand new 12v 1amp psu with you just to make sure you have good power.  Patch up a simple sound by turning all the oscillators down bar one, say the Square (nice a loud they are).  Turn cutoff up full and put the resonance at about 9 o'clock  Turn Brute Factor down.  Put both volume controls at full bore.  Set glide to 0.  Place all the LFO dials to 12 o'clock so it's not doing anything to anything.  Set the attack to zero and put decay up full and do the same to the sustain and release on both the envelopes.  Put the envelope speed to fast.  Turn off the arpeggiator.  If all is well you should get a nice buzzing square wave sound.  If that's good, turn down the square and push up each of the other oscillator sliders in turn to check they are all good also.  Also do the same with your headphones plugged into the main output to check it's not affected as well.

Good Luck,

markd.

Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )

Yep shes bought and i am waiting for a brand new psu from arturia.

I have a 12v 1a on it and will try what you suggested when i get the chance.

Right now i am working on my wavestation a/d and playing with my deepmind 6.

When i get home i will work it out like you said.

I paid 150 us so if it dont work it goes back for sure.

Thanks for your help.

My minilogue is looking for a partner i am hoping the minibrute and dm6 will
 all play nice together haha.

Cant afford an arp or moog
So i am hoping the brute will get close to the in search of theme vibe i dig.

Thanks again.
