Nooby Question - Beatstep + Drumbrute - Bass Station 2
« on: October 08, 2018, 05:11:56 pm »
Hey all - I've got a quick, pretty nooby question -

So, I've got a Beatstep, a Drumbrute, a Bass Station 2, and a Microbrute. I'd like to use the Beatstep to sequence the Bass Station 2 (which doesn't have CV in/out, but only MIDI in/out). I'd like to also use the Beatstep to clock the Drumbrute and the Microbute with CV out. Is this a thing that is possible? If not, tell me I'm an idiot and to give up. If so, however...

I'm trying to do this, but running MIDI out to the Bass Station 2. It's working well to sequence the BS2, but CV out from the BS2 isn't working to clock the tempo of the Drumbrute. I've tried changing the pulse settings to 48 and making sure that the sync mode on the Drumbrute is set to Clk.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?  ::)

Hi inkblacksea,
CV output is not intended to send clock. One may use the gate output as a clock, but you sequence on the BeatStep must be done with this in mind. It must be done with each step activated and should be set to something like 50% gate length. The time division will be important also. But if you want to play your BeatStep sequence on Bass Station 2, you cannot do this "clocking" sequence at the same time.

I think I am not clear, but I would simply say the answer is "no, you can't", regarding your description of want you want to do.

Y.
