Defining user scale

Following the manual defining user scale is easy however I can't save it. As soon as I let go of pad 16 (user) it reverts back to its factory setting> What am I doing wrong?

ah, possible i was doing it wrong....i was using the rotary to set the notes but i think i should switch off the pads for the notes i do not require>?
Can i still set the root note for user scale?
