Ignoring program change if not preceded by bank change.
« on: January 28, 2017, 08:12:45 pm »
Hi Guys,

My MB seems to ignore program change messages unless they are preceded by a bank change.

This is a bit annoying as it means you cannot change any presets from any device that doesn't send bank, and thats loads of devices.

Any chance this can be changed?

Cheers

Andy

Actually I can't get the MB to change programs consistently with anything!

Can someone at Arturia help?

Hello, I have exactly the same issue, using Logic Pro. No program change or volume control accepted by MatrixBrute. Did you find a solution?

For the program change at the moment there is no solution.

I thought volume should work but I have not tested it, so there is a good likelihood i'm wrong!

This may have been answered previously on the forum so apologies if it has... but is there any way of changing presets from within the MIDI Controller software?

Seems really odd that I can't click on a sound in the library and there's no patch change - am I missing something or is this as intended?

I'm getting the impression that it isn't possible.  :-\

Thanks!

Modifying my reply here.

I got it working. Bank MSB sets the preset row in the matrix (0=A, 1=B, 2=C etc)
Program Change then selects the column 0-15.

LSB is ignored as far as I can observe.

I agree that it's odd and a bit limiting to require Bank select.

It isn't—and seems a strange omission.

Arturia told me that it would be technically difficult to get the MIDI controller software to change patches on selection—which seems strange to me.

I've been using https://mountainutilities.eu/miditools to change patches on my remote MB. In Logic, I can only seem do it from a Multi-instrument object, which is really inconvenient.

Does anyone know how to automate a program change in Cubase (pro9.5)? In the Inspector tab, setting Program value from 1 to 16 changes the current patch number on the currently selected row. However, changing the Bank number does nothing. I also notice that when recording MIDI, patch changes are not recorded.
