recording midi from spark vst

Hi I am trying to record some midi notes using the spark vst only. Currently using logic pro 9. Ultimately I am trying to recorded some triplet hi hat rolls and the sequencer tends to automate them to even steps. End goal is recorded midi notes. Thank you for your help

turn off quantize on the spark, select+ record button. Use the roller, it should work fine. Make sure on prefs that the boxes for send midi from pads and sequencer are checked on.
