Just got my MatrixBrute
« on: January 26, 2017, 08:30:21 pm »
MB 1st impressions
Massive box
Massive weight , really heavy

THIS IS A BRUTE

Not impressed by the gash in the box,
Superb internal protective packaging MUST KEEP

Difficult to lift out of box but will only do this once
Really heavy synth with massive size and presence
Dwarfing the Sub 37 ,

Beautiful , well designed ARTURIA!!!!!

Sliders have a slight  lateral wobble , rotaries are as rock solid as the Moog.

Switched it on. Rapid boot interval

Played a few sounds , changing patches

UH! Takes too long. The clue to completed recall is that the electric ink display goes totally black and then white when it is steady black on white , the change has  completed . This has been noted by another poster too.

I would like the lights a little brighter,  electric ink display pin sharp but a little small. Very high contrast easy to read with my reading glasses on

Downloaded the Midi Control Centre  (MCC), easy to install , but failed to connect to MB

SOLVED , threw off the under powered USB  hub , connected directly to MB all ok

Downloaded update which installed ok , rebooted MB OK no obvious changes .

In the MCC tried recall to computer preset and sequence

USB is slow

At the lower right of the MCC in red it says  "Failed to get metadata for ... " and it is scrolling through presets eg A1 , A2

The Matrix in the MCC for the Matrixbrute is not populated at all.

Getting worried

SOLVED Quit MCC and relaunched. Tried  recall to computer Preset + sequence, all ok

Started 1st project
Finding that I am preferring the Steiner Parker filter over the Ladder

Wife on the war path , will continue review later

So glad you've got yours DrAKS! Looks like you need a lot of "tinkering time" to bed it into your setup.

They never understand the need for "tinkering time" do they... LOL !

Makes me very grumpy when she disrespects my new toy.

Women just don't understand the relationship between the gadgeteer and the new gadget , Also jealousy I reckon

Actually is there a single woman on this forum!?

I have the synth for sometime now, never noticed the wobbly faders. Nor did I notice that  they are not straight at all. I don't care, it's awesome!

Although the loading times can be annoying.

Thanks for your report, DrAKS.

I'm glad to hear that it feels good and works well. I'm already convinced by the sound.

Now you need to serenade your wife to make her happy with your new 'lute'.

After this mornings  women's health conference I am going to try the sequencer
1st I will generate a plucked sound  and then try to prog a sequence from TDs track  EXIT. I will try the real time method , or the Rhythm method ( should that be in the women's health conference?😉)
But 1st , Women's Health (sigh)
