automated control of sequencer
« on: February 03, 2005, 10:18:11 pm »
hi everyone  i'm delighted to be a registered user of the Mg modular v at last having a great love of modular synths and some years of experiance owning a roland sytem 100 for 22 years using it on many recordings.
tha Mg modular is a fantastic piece of software machinery fantastic sound looks good and is a joy to use.your workers deserve a medal.
the sequencer is exactly what i need to produce the sequences i've always wanted to produce i.e changing number of notes on the fly runing different seq to gether pressing the buttons to give the seq life and constant changes somthing tangerine dream always did so well.
unfortunatley i,ve only been able to run it with the changes live as i am unable to find  any  NRPN automating code for the sequencer functions making it imposible to change the seq automatically in my sequencer and so being unable to record the automation in seq.
can the seq be controlled automatically at the moment or is this ging to be in a future upgrade.
or do i need a different seq using sonar 2 xl at moment. :?

I don't understand exactly what you want to do,
but maybe you ca assign the MMV sequencer sliders to separates midi CC control, and assign them qith hardware knobs of a control surface..

ok
at the moment i dont have a hardware controller but even if i did would the the sequencer or any sequencer be able to record the movements that i make.
the Mg modular v seq enables me to change where the seq plays from by using the bottom rotary controls i.e step 7 might go to step 3 then i might change 7 to go to step 4 which changes the seq again. also by pressing the link red buttons u get a space instead of the note which is great for giving different timing feels to the seq.
or adding a portmento at some point through the seq.
last point you could have three seperate tunes for each of the seq lines i.e 1,2,3 and you can use the little lcd box to change from L123 to L321 or C23 or C12 i like this and can get some great seq live but cannot control them automaticaly in a track in sonar and being a DXI cant record the changes in real time unless controls can be changed from sonars controller data.
i can change filter/osc enverlope generators ok.
without automation of the said fuctions i can't bounce down the DXI with the changes i would like to make.
thanks for answering my last message
